Accessibility and New Hero

By Raymond Brigleb

in Industry Insights

I was reading up on New Hero which is a font from Newlyn that we’ve been using in some projects lately, and I was really impressed by one of its accessibility features.

Compatible with the W3C initiative, New Hero includes an accessibility character set for organisations wishing to follow these guidelines. These fonts not only enhance compliance on the web, but are also important to UI/UX, broadcast media and signage design and demonstrate corporate social responsibility.

Basically the design of the font includes a few letters that are specifically tweaked to be much easier to read and distinguish.

I love this because we value accessibility a ton and do a lot of work to make sure that what we build is accessible. It’s a nice touch to have a font that can support those goals.
