We&#8217;re personally committed to one good lunch chat a week, and one or both of us have talked trade with Lev of <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkshout.com\/\">ThinkShout<\/a>, with Nicole and Tyler at <a href=\"http:\/\/factorynorth.com\/\">Factory North<\/a>, Jennifer Armbrust of <a href=\"http:\/\/armbrust.co\/\">Armbrust &amp; Co<\/a>, blogging star <a href=\"http:\/\/honeykennedy.com\/\">Honey Kennedy<\/a>, indie artist and creative <a href=\"http:\/\/amyruppel.com\/\">Amy Ruppel<\/a>, and more. We even made it out to Pattern People&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/stumptowncoffee.com\/pattern-prople-art-at-belmont-january-2012\/\">brilliant show at Stumptown<\/a>, daughter in tow.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s pretty serious.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve learned so much from talking to everyone this month. Here are some of the lessons learned.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Focus on what you love.<\/li>\n<li>Do some work you are passionate about and have creative control with, even if it you don&#8217;t get paid.<\/li>\n<li>Keep learning.<\/li>\n<li>Find mentors and listen to them.<\/li>\n<li>There are two basic ways to grow a business like ours.<\/li>\n<li>Meeting fellow designers is fun.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We&#8217;re going to keep up the momentum all year, and write more along the way.
