I probably spend half the day in my <a href=\"http:\/\/macromates.com\/\">text editor of choice<\/a>. Consequently, I\u2019ve become quite the aficionado of good fixed-width typefaces. And my favorite, these days, is Microsoft\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/microsoft.com\/downloads\/details.aspx?familyid=22e69ae4-7e40-4807-8a86-b3d36fab68d3&amp;displaylang=en\">Consolas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here you can see it compared to my old standby, Monaco. Monaco is a good font \u2013 it comes with Mac OS for free, and it looks good at small sizes. But with my 30\u201d display, I can stand to have a font that\u2019s a little larger \u2013 14 point seems to work well.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite feature of this font is its italics. Just look at that! Monaco doesn\u2019t even have italics \u2013 many fixed-width fonts don\u2019t. But italics come in very handy, and I find Consolas\u2019 very helpful, legible, and even kind of cute!
