{"id":1556,"date":"2009-01-09T13:10:00","date_gmt":"2009-01-09T21:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/visual-storytelling"},"modified":"2017-01-20T15:29:02","modified_gmt":"2017-01-20T23:29:02","slug":"visual-storytelling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/needmoredesigns.com\/visual-storytelling\/","title":{"rendered":"Visual Storytelling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been enjoying <a href=\"http:\/\/amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0123740371?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=needmoredesig-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0123740371\">Sketching User Experiences<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"http:\/\/assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=needmoredesig-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0123740371\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" class=\"lazyload\" \/> by Bill Buxton. This is a great book, filled with tons of visual goodies and great writing. He brings a lot of other ideas and disciplines into the fray, and it\u2019s very encouraging.<\/p>\n<p>One example: he observes that you really do want someone with illustration talent around, to help visualize your design ideas. However, he freely admits that he\u2019s not very good at this. He writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c&#8230;One of the things that gave me great encouragement took place in New York City in 1997. My wife and I were going through a retrospective exhibition of one of my heroes, Robert Rauschenberg, at the Guggenheim Museum. About three-quarters of the way through the exhibit, I had an epiphany: There was nothing at all in the exhibition that suggested that Rauschenberg could draw!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Interesting. I can\u2019t draw either, but I do love design. To fill in those gaps in education, I\u2019ve been thinking about getting a book, or taking a class, to get better at it myself.<\/p>\n<p>At any rate, he sums it up well with this quote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe limiting factor is your imagination, not technology or technique.
