Thoughts on the Yahoo! Maps Beta

Last night Yahoo! released Maps Beta, a first release of their new mapping website. They have also provided some examples of applications you can build with their public API. Which got me thinking.

Almost two years ago, we built the Think Hawthorne website, in partnership with Clixel. At the time, I was rather proud of the Flash map interface we built into their website, which allows you to interact with a map of the Hawthorne area, locating businesses that interest you along the way.

It is now apparent that if we were to do it over again, we would be using Yahoo! Maps. We would gain so many features for free, it would be a no-brainer. It could just be so much better.

My, how quickly the game changes!
