comes out tomorrow, the new album by Beck. It’s hard to not love Beck, particularly given his willingness to try different ideas and keep moving forward. This album is no exception – listeners can assemble their own album cover out of the artwork provided and send it in. His favorite will adorn future pressings of the album.
But is the music any good?!? Yes! I’ve been listening to it for the past two days, and I’m addicted. It has a lot of standard Beck sound to it, with lots of upbeat hip-hop sounds. There’s also a strong undercurrent of late sixties which I really like. Track 4, in fact, sounds so much like Rolling Stones circa 1969 I had to do a double-take. Anyway, it’s really good, upbeat, and mellow. Be sure to check it out.
