Pentagram’s Saks Fifth Avenue Logo Redesign

There’s an article on Brand New today about the redesign of the Saks logo that’s very interesting. Here is a brand that chooses to use no color, and stick to a logo design quite similar to what they’ve used for the past sixty years. Yet inverting the graphic, and putting it into a black box, and then making puzzles out of it… very clever. You can still make out the style of the typeface from looking at any part of the packaging!
