You know, I think I’ve got a motto. At least, a motto of the moment. Here it is:
You make the best decision you can with the knowledge that you have at any given time.
I don’t know if it’s been said exactly that way before, I may just be paraphrasing. It doesn’t matter. It’s a great motto.
So many times, I look back at work we’ve done in the past, and I see so many ways it could have been better. I understand the technology better, or I’m aware of services now that maybe weren’t available back then.
It’s okay. That’s life. That’s why our next project will usually be better than our last one. And that’s why it doesn’t get me too down when I have to tell old clients that it might be a good idea to invest the time and energy into making changes to their sites.
The Internet, and the Web, are constantly evolving and changing. Things that weren’t really practical a few years ago are now commonplace. That’s just the way it is.
Maybe that’s part of the reason it’s so much fun.
