Graced by the colors of the rainbow, the Equality House stands as a beaming symbol of equality, peace and positive change — a beacon of hope shining directly across from a group that has, for far too long, used aggression as their primary tactic for intimidation.
We had the great honor to volunteer for this remarkable group and create a website that helps spread their message of love.
When we started asking ourselves why equality matters, some pretty powerful numbers came up. Every hour, 50 teens attempt suicide in the United States, due mainly to a message that says they are “less than.”
71% of students report incidents of bullying as a problem at their school. The list goes on and on and on. As parents and brothers and sisters and friends, we are deeply troubled by this knowledge. And this terrible situation is what folks at the Equality House are working to change.
Telling this story was very important to us here at Needmore. We will be sharing some stories throughout the week about why we got involved. In the meantime, join us in standing up for equality! Stop by, pick up a shirt, share your story, get involved, and feel the love.
