Boot Camp

Okay, this one came at us out of the blue. Apple is officially offering something they call Boot Camp to Intel-based Mac computers. It lets you run Windows XP and Mac OS X on the same computer.

More and more people are buying and loving Macs. To make this choice simply irresistible, Apple will include technology in the next major release of Mac OS X, Leopard, that lets you install and run the Windows XP operating system on your Mac. Called Boot Camp (for now), you can download a public beta today.

Wow. I’m really impressed. I actually thought it was a late April Fools joke when I first saw it! It seems like just yesterday folks were wondering if they could boot Windows on a Mac at all.

If there’s a compelling reason for a web design shop like ours to buy a new Mac, this is now it. Imagine being able to use a $600 iMac to replace this clunker Windows PC we use to test our websites with a Mac that runs virtually every browser in current use!
