Backyard Bird Shop

Fearless acrobatic flying jewels. Melodious early morning solos. Torpid conservation states. The time is now to connect with nature!

“We’re thrilled with our new website because it is elegant while being information-rich and easy to use!  We’ve received many compliments for its utility— our customers want something that is easy to use and that gives them the information that they are seeking.  We’re fortunate that Kandace and Ray have the artistic temperament and technical savvy to present our info-heavy website to customers in an artistic and engaging way.  Their technical and artistic know-how is only surpassed by their customer service and quick response.”

Molly Evans

When you walk into one of Backyard Bird Shop’s seven bustling Portland locations dotting our fine city, you have a myriad of choices for information from helpful staff to informational handouts. And, chatting with owner Molly is a rare education in the fine art of attracting, hosting and viewing backyard wildlife. It is easy to see why folks would want to hear more from Backyard Bird Shop. However, their former online presence was limited to a single overview page.

They came to Needmore wanting to “link folks to ways to connect with nature and sell products that would do the same.” With this in mind, we set to work creating an easy-to-update website (running on Expression Engine) that houses not only a an online shop (launching summer 2008) and resources, but also a locations finder and a resource-rich blog. Our favorite resource section is the Meet the Birds category, which provides consistently updating bird friends and information straight from the home page.

We’ve long been fans, and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to work on this project with them.
