Mac Tip: Easier File Uploads

Being a web designer means spending at least half your day in your web browser. Actually, a lot of people probably do that. One thing I find really cumbersome is the file upload window. I used to spend probably thirty seconds in there every time I was uploading a file in Safari.

A better idea: Keep a Finder window open (alongside Safari, if you have room) and drag the file into the File Upload dialog box. You can’t just drag the file onto the web page directly (sadly) and if you are somewhere else in the file system, the first drag-and-drop only seems to bring you to that location. If you drag the file in a second time, it takes. But if you have the file you want to upload just sitting there in the finder, sometimes it is just quicker to drag and drop.
